The festival, in its 47th year, saw a record 525 entries involving about 1,000 young musicians from 40 schools across Shropshire and North Wales - with Ellesmere College collecting 20 first places.
The Taunton Prep School singers are to pitch their voices against choirs from 21 other schools in a bid to clinch the national title of Barnardo’s Choir of the Year.
Violinist Anthony Knight, 17, was chosen to represent Taunton School at this year’s Westminster Abbey carol service in recognition of his extraordinary fund-raising concerts to help children in conflict zones around the world.
