A leading co-educational prep school for pupils aged 7 to 13, Belmont is just a short walk from the Senior School. The School is situated on 120 acres of beautiful school grounds in Mill Hill, on the edge of the North London Green Belt and just ten miles from Central London.
Belmont is a warm and caring Prep School which believes that the children's happiness and wellbeing are integral to a fulfilling education.
It's School Values of Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You, are fully embedded into school life. With small class sizes and an extensive co-curricular programme pupils achieve high academic standards.
All our lessons provide opportunities for pupils to discuss, investigate, challenge and be challenged, and as a result they develop not only their understanding but also their enjoyment of the subject. Benefiting from small class sizes, averaging 19 pupils, children are effective, aspirational and self-motivated learners. Through active learning we encourage pupils to ask questions and think critically.
Future Skills is an exciting part of our curriculum that equips pupils with the skills needed for 21st century work and life. Pupils will work on 'The 7 Cs': Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Calmness, Compassion and Character.
We believe that a child who is happy and safe in their environment will flourish, and so our pastoral care is tailored to individuals through our mentoring programme. The backbone of this is a team of outstanding tutors who get to know every child. They will support them each step of their journey with us.
Pupils will also belong to one of our six Houses, providing the opportunity to make friendships across the School and forming another layer of pastoral care.
Being a small school offers the advantage of providing more opportunities for students to take on leadership roles. Whether it's being appointed as Head Boy or Head Girl or representing the School Council, there are plenty of ways for everyone to make their mark at school.
There are over 100 clubs each term and we always make sure we offer a breadth and variety of activities in each year group. This guarantees that every child will find their niche. Our co-curricular club are under four pillars, which are: physical, creative, cognitive, and community.
We have top of the range sports facilities, complete with a full gym and swimming pool, a fantastic Art studio with its own garden, a Cookery classroom and a Music room equipped to deliver Music Technology. We also have state-of-the-art Science labs, Computing suite and a Design and Technology studio.
Our main admission point is Year 7 (11+), where we increase the year group size, but occasionally we will admit additional children in other years - these are called 'chance vacancies'.
