Wycombe Abbey opens a new state-of-the-art golf simulator, which will be available to the school and wider community.

Wycombe Abbey were delighted to welcome Rachel Keens (former Director of Sport and Deputy Head) back to school to open their new golf simulator. While teaching in the PE Department, Rachel encouraged participation in golf, knowing the benefits it brings in terms of physical activity as well as enjoyment.

England Golf, the sport’s governing body, is working hard to make golf more inclusive and accessible, especially to girls and women, and this was one of Wycombe Abbey’s motivations when, in January 2023, discussions began about building an on-site golf simulator. Funded in part by support from donors the facility formally opened on Saturday 27 April.

On cutting the ceremonial ribbon, Rachel said, "What an incredible new facility for the school. Fantastic practice for existing golfers, especially when the weather and winter dark evenings prevent and restrict practice times, but also what an opportunity for all pupils to have a go and experience golf amongst friends."

The golf simulator is already used by a number pupils as part of their Games options and will be offered to those who let the facility, to children on Wycombe Abbey’s Summer Programme and also to partner schools in the community.
