Brentwood School ace outperforms in UK’s highly competitive Junior Motorsport Championship

Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Ethan Brooks scored his best two results of the season in the fiercely competitive Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship at Thruxton, supporting the British Touring Car Championship.

Current Ginetta Junior Scholarship Winner and Brentwood School pupil, Ethan powered through to score two top ten finishes out of a grid of 26 in the Championship race held at the UK's fastest motorsport circuit at Thruxton Motorsport Centre in Hampshire.

After qualifying in a disappointing 17th place for the first race, due to being caught up in traffic on his quickest lap, Ethan kept his head and, undeterred, worked his way through the pack avoiding incidents to finish in a highly respectable 8th place. The 16-year-old gained two places on the last corner thanks to a brave double overtake.

In the second race, Ethan started in 13th and made an outstanding start, moving his way up to 5th by the end of the first lap. However, the red flag came out, prompting a full restart. He then maturely drove his way through to 7th place, again gaining 2 places on the final lap to secure the best result of his career.

Race three saw the ITV4 cameras rolling and Ethan made a promising start climbing up to 5th place before a 100mph clash caused him to spin off the track. Luckily he managed to keep racing and putting his head down, climbed from last to 13th whilst matching the pace of the front runners.

“This was our best weekend this season as we were able to fight at the front and gain our two best results. Of course I’m disappointed about Race 3 but we showed that we had the pace to battle for the podium,” he said.

Ethan earned his place on the Junior Championship grid - one of the UK’s most prestigious events - after winning the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in October 2018. He fought off 70 of Europe’s best drivers to be crowned Scholarship winner and secure a place on the Ginetta Junior Grid for 2019 which acts as a support series for the British Touring Car Championship.

The Ginetta Junior Championship resumes at Knockhill in Scotland on the 14th and 15th September where once again 3 million TV viewers will be watching to see if Ethan can continue his success.
