After an enforced sabbatical, Brentwood School’s hardy orienteers defied the unpredictable weather and were back in action this weekend at Hadleigh Country Park.

After two cancelled events – the last one due to snow and ice – the team braved the very cold conditions, the extremely inquisitive cows, and the leg-achingly steep gradients to produce some noteworthy results.

Emma Bowie-Britton finished in sixth spot on the 3.36km Light Green course in a time of 60.33. Heather Trevelyan took runners-up honours on the 2.83km Orange run in a time of 50.46; Jessica Mills was third in 51.31 and Kate Bowie-Britton fifth in 55.01.

Brentwood had six finishers on the 2.2km Yellow course with Janie Horton securing second place in 37.34; Matthew Trevelyan was third in 41.21; Adnan Yaqub eighth in 53.35; Evie Jarman ninth in 59.18; Pranita Arun Prasadh tenth in 62.04 and Salman Yaqub finished in 56.45 having missed a control.

Jake Horton beat the third place competitor by just one second to finish the 1.7km White course as runner up in a time of 19.25, with Lucy Trevelyan ninth in 29.56.
