Brentwood School record-breakers make karting history

Brentwood School’s victorious karters are back at their desks after a glorious summer that saw them crowned the British Schools’ Karting Champions for a record-breaking third time.

Their latest championship win at the National Final at Whilton Mill – which saw them become the first team to take the title three times in a row – means they are now the most successful team in the history of the BSKC competition.

The Karting A Team – consisting of 17-year-old Callum Brooks, 15-year-old Ethan Brooks and 17-year old Iaroslav Kovalev – had been in impressive form all season beating off over 13,000 drivers to reach the final.

When later interviewed by the BARC (British Automobile Racing Club), the boys were lost for words and ‘couldn’t believe’ their success. Proud mum Mrs Michele Brooks said ‘This is a great base from which the boys can build motorsport careers.’

The Brentwood students had been strong favourites to take the championship title but faced stiff competition from 26 of the best teams from around the UK. After a series of epic battles, the boys’ five best races were tallied up, giving them a score of 95 out of a possible 100 points, securing them the historic win.

Their victory spoils included an invitation by Williams F1 team to tour the historic collection at their factory. Special congratulations must go to Ethan, who as a result of being the highest-placed MSA licence holder, won free entry into the 2019 Ginetta Junior Scholarship. This will give him the chance to compete for a fully funded season in the 2019 Ginetta Junior Championship, which is a very prestigious prize.

It is clear that the future of motorsport in Brentwood is very bright.
