CAE welcomes future female pilots
Posted on 19th Jul 2019 in School NewsCAE is a worldwide leader in civil aviation training. Lower Sixth Formers at Burgess Hill Girls were delighted to be invited to CAE’s Burgess Hill headquarters to learn about the aviation industry.
The girls were given a presentation on aviation careers and shown how pilots are taught and trained via classrooms and simulators. The girls also had an opportunity to try out CAE’s simulators for themselves with half the group piloting a helicopter and the other half a jet airliner.
Bill O’Brien-Blake, Head of Sixth Form, said: “With a shortage of female pilots, and likely rising demand for pilots generally in the coming years, this was a hugely worthwhile experience for the girls.
"Being able to take control of these enormous industrial simulators was a unique opportunity – many expert landings were made across the year group!”
