Chigwell School is delighted to announce that they have won 'Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025' in East Anglia in this year's Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide.

The Sunday Times has just published the 32nd edition of its Parent Power Guide 2025, listing the highest-achieving national and regional schools of the year based on criteria such as their GCSE and A-Level results.

Chigwell is thrilled to report that:

  • we have been crowned East Anglia's Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025
  • we are ranked the 35th co-educational independent secondary school in the UK
  • we are ranked the 37th independent secondary boarding school in the UK
  • we have risen 13 places in the overall national rankings, making us one of the UK's top 100 schools

The Parent Power Guide is widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools and recognised as the definitive ranking of the UK’s top primary and secondary state and independent schools. This guide remains an essential resource for parents seeking the very best in education for their children. It is now available online in The Times' 'Best private schools in the UK' article and will also be available in print in a 28-page supplement on Sunday, December 8.

The Times notes that "this mixed day school with a small number of sixth-form boarders has been encouraging happiness and achievement in its pupils for nearly 400 years. All eyes are on the big anniversary in 2029."

At Chigwell, we are committed to providing a holistic outstanding education. This award recognises our academic excellence, outstanding pastoral system, and plethora of opportunities available inside and outside the classroom.

Our Head, Mr Damian King, commented: "We are delighted that The Sunday Times has recognised our excellent provision and crowned us Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025 for East Anglia and to also be one of the UK's Top 50 independent co-ed secondary schools. This accolade is a testament to the outstanding education offered at Chigwell School and we would like to commend our pupils for their hard work, our staff for their commitment and our parents and the wider school community for their dedication."

Established in 1629, Chigwell is a top co-educational day and boarding school for 4-18 year olds with excellent facilities set in a beautiful 100-acre site, within view of the City of London.
