Chigwell School pupil meets Prime Minister Rishi Sunak
Posted on 2nd Jan 2024 in School NewsChigwell School Year 7 pupil Jack was delighted to be invited to attend the Downing Street Festive Fair on Thursday 30 November where a few military families had been invited to see Prime Minister Rishi Sunak turn on the Christmas tree lights.
The Prime Minister thanked them for their service, particularly those whose loved ones are serving overseas for the Christmas period.
Jack’s stepmother is a Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army and has spent the last 24 years working all over the world (including Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Bahrain, Gibraltar, Bavaria, Norway, and France). She was lucky enough to be selected to attend the Christmas Fair with Jack.
There were a number of artisan food and drink businesses promoting their products and encouraging lots of eating and drinking, music from the Royal Marines band and the London Community Gospel Choir, and an exciting countdown before Rishi Sunak turned on the lights.
Jack was incredibly excited to have been invited but the highlight was him taking a selfie with the Prime Minister!
