Conundrum: Wycombe Abbey introduces online quiz for all school-aged children globally
Posted on 13th Dec 2022 in School News, MathsWycombe Abbey is delighted to introduce 'Conundrum', an online maths quiz for all school-aged children worldwide. Developed by the maths department to encourage problem-solving and enrichment within mathematics.
In recent years, the Wycombe Abbey Mathematics Department ran monthly puzzle competitions for pupils. Due to their popularity, the school launched the initiative to a wider audience outside school attracting more than 300 participants worldwide.
As these competitions grew, it became clear that a new online platform was needed to enhance the experience and encourage more participants. Wycombe Abbey is pleased to share the new Conundrum Website which has been launched to host the puzzles. The site was built by Monogram, the developers of the school website, and was made possible by a donation from a former parent. With this investment, it will be possible to run bigger and better competitions moving forward, providing enrichment and extension to pupils at Wycombe Abbey and to the wider community.
The first of many Conundrum quizzes was launched to coincide with Christmas with 24 festive problems released daily between 1 December and Christmas Eve. Enthusiastic puzzlers will have until 6 January to solve them. This competition will be open to all school-age pupils, and an account can be set up by visiting the Conundrum website. To be eligible for a prize, participants will need to provide a teacher's email address, and competitors under 13 will need parental consent.
