County honours for Brentwood School orienteers

An impressive 17 members of the Brentwood School Orienteering Club represented Essex Juniors in last Sunday’s heat of the Yvette Baker Trophy held at Danbury Park.

Although they didn’t win their event, there were some notable individual performances and the Brentwood team helped Essex secure third spot – missing out by just 2 points!

In a closely fought competition, Suffolk took top honours with 897 points, Hertfordshire were second with 896 points and Essex were pipped to third position with 895 points.

Emma Bowie-Britton scored 98 points on the 3.5km Light Green course coming home 12th in a time of 54.55. Sarah Prior (59.09) and Kate Bowie-Britton (71.41) both scored 97 points on the 3.2km Orange course finishing 10th and 14th respectively. Heather Trevelyan was 18th in 93.18.

Jake Horton, a Brentwood Preparatory School pupil, finished 9th on the 2.1km Yellow course in a time of 24.59; Janie Horton was 13th in 28.30, followed by Ayush Jain ((30.11); Joshua Elsworth (30.52); Adnan Yaqub (35.16) Jacob Leslie (38.39); Matthew Trevelyan (39.23); Salman Yaqub (39.47); Jenson Martell (43.47); Evie Jarman (45.44); Jemima Mamelok (82.11) and Sam Lee (25.29 having missed a control).

Lucy Trevelyan, also from the Prep, came third on the 1.3km White course in a time of 18.46.
