Cranleigh makes the grade

Cranleigh is pleased to report excellent GCSE results, with 19 per cent of all grades a 9 and 45 per cent of all grades being 9/8. 99 per cent of students gained five or more GCSEs graded 9-4 and 70 per cent of all pupils achieved 9-7 in the core subjects of Maths and English.

Deputy Head Academic, Mr David Boggitt, said: “This year has performed superbly well. They committed themselves to their studies and supported one another brilliantly. We're looking forward to welcoming them back to Sixth Form life soon.”

In this year's public exams, 55% of the cohort achieved seven or more grades 9-7 and 37% of the cohort achieved an outstanding nine or more grades 9-7. 11 pupils achieved all 9-8 and Cranleigh's most common grade was a grade 8.

Cranleigh's LAMDA students also excelled themselves this year with a superb set of results across grades 5 to 8. These included awards for solo and duo Acting, Speaking in Public and Speaking Verse and Prose.The exam takes place in the final week of the Summer and is the culmination of months of preparation and weekly lessons.

Distinction was awarded to 98% of the students who took the exam, with 8 students awarded a distinction grade 8 gold medal. To put this into context, this is the equivalent of 30 UCAS points.

Director of Drama, Mrs Emily McGhee, said: "We are hugely proud of the students and staff for the consistent hard work involved to create these results. We look forward to seeing LAMDA continue to grow as more Cranleighans seek to develop their confidence and creativity with the valuable life skills offered through this internationally recognised qualification."

The majority of students will remain at Cranleigh to join the Sixth Form and continue their studies to A-Level.
