Cranleigh School pupil races at Goodwood
Posted on 2nd May 2024 in School News, SportCranleigh School Sixth Former, Jack Ruddell, was the youngest driver at last weekend’s Goodwood 81st members meeting.
Already an experienced racer in the Civic Cup, this time Jack drove a 1965 Ford Mustang. He drove alongside British touring car champion, Tom Ingram, in the Ken Miles Cup – a two-driver, 45-minute race in honour of 60 years of the Mustang. Racing against many sporting legends and formula stars, they finished in 8th place, a phenomenal achievement.
Jack said: "I started the race and off the start I managed to gain three places and another place on the second lap. An early safety car caused me not to gain any more places, so I decided to come in and allow Tom out in free air.
"It was a bit of a different car to drive from the Civic, but overall I’m super happy with the way the season has started as we experienced a lot of bad luck last year with car issues which put me on the back-foot towards motorsport. I come into the civic cup season and the rest of the mustang season with a lot of confidence to do well and I have managed to open more opportunities for my future career in motorsport."
Also one of the youngest drivers in the Civic Cup championship, Jack will continue to race in the Civic Cup this year and was the fastest in pre-season testing.
