Dauntsey’s has recently hosted the Primary Schools' Mini-Hockey Festival. This is the culmination of its Sports Outreach Programme which involves Dauntsey’s sports staff travelling to primary schools in the community, providing regular coaching sessions to more than 300 children.

Hosted by Dauntsey’s, the mini-hockey festival enabled more than 150 primary school pupils to show off their newly learned skills in an atmosphere of friendly rivalry. Some 17 teams played in an A and B division, with more than 100 goals being scored.

Congratulations to Wansdyke School which won the A division in a close game. Dauntsey Academy Primary School (DAPS) won the B division, with Wansdyke being the overall winners. Mark Lascelles, Head Master at Dauntsey’s, presented the winning team members with the Sports Outreach Trophy.

Marcus Olsen, Director of Sport, Dauntsey’s said:

“This event is always a great conclusion to the hockey outreach programme and it was especially pleasing to see Wansdyke record their first success. St. Josephs enjoyed one of their best Tournaments and came very close to winning the trophy. It’s very rewarding to see the coaching programme develop such progress with these young players.”

The nine participating schools were:

Dauntsey’s Academy Primary School (West Lavington), Five Lanes Primary School (Worton), Holy Trinity Primary School (Great Cheverell), Rowde Primary School, St Barnabas Primary School (Market Lavington), St Josephs Primary School (Devizes), St Thomas à Beckett Primary School (Tilshead), Urchfont Primary School, and Wansdyke School.
