DLD College hosts BTEC celebration
Posted on 25th Jun 2018 in School News, Student awardsDLD College London recently celebrated the success of its BTEC students with a high-profile college event.
The BTEC Celebration allowed teachers, students and parents to come together to mark the students’ achievements. Families enjoyed afternoon tea whilst tutors wished the pupils well for their future with a commemorative address.
The BTEC courses have enjoyed a 100% success rate over the last four years at DLD and students have attended a number of prestigious Russell Group Universities through the BTEC award.
The College offers BTEC courses in Business, Media Production and Music Technology. BTEC courses allow the students to demonstrate their understanding practically by applying their learning through assignments, rather than through a final year examination.
Course Leader John Branney shared his thoughts about the importance of the day:
The BTEC Celebration was a lovely way for the students to share their success with their families and tutors. It was a lovely way to send our students off to the next stage in their educational journey. We are so proud of the accomplishments of all of our students this year.’
The celebration also saw the presentation of the BTEC Student of the Year awards across all of the subject areas. The awards were presented for academic excellence and effort. Tom Darbyshire was awarded ‘BTEC Business Student of the Year’; Sebastian Davies was honoured with ‘BTEC Media Production Student of the Year’; and the ‘BTEC Music Technology Student of the Year’ award went to Emina Curic.
BTECs have enjoyed a great deal of success at DLD College over the last five years, winning two national awards and being nominated for many more. The BTEC Course Leader, John Branney was awarded the Shine Media Award for Most Inspirational Teacher in 2016 and the BTEC Media Production students won the Pearson Showstopper Challenge Award in 2017.
