DLD Student Council prepares to lead the way
Posted on 5th Jun 2019 in School NewsThe newly elected members of the Student Council at DLD College London recently embarked on a leadership development journey, preparing them for the demanding year ahead.
The group of 14 from the Westminster Bridge-based College were put through their paces during a two-day event hosted by the ADUR Outdoor Activities Centre in Shoreham by Sea.
In preparation for the challenges set during the action-packed stay, students explored various styles of leadership, as well as learning what is required to become a more effective leader. Putting their newly enhanced skills to the test, the young adults participated in a range of activities to improve teamwork and communication.
The students worked collectively to tackle construction projects such as raft building, navigating through a low-rope assault course and scaling the heights of a rock climbing wall which helped develop their guidance and communication skills and build confidence.
DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif commented, “The leadership development event was a great success, exposing the students to new opportunities to enhance their skillset and personally challenge themselves in preparation for their year of responsibility ahead.”
“Our student council is a significant, much-valued aspect of the student voice here at DLD College London and by actively seeking occasions for our students to engage in development projects such as this recent excursion, the group can succeed in its mission to promote a sense of community across the college, while improving the everyday life of our students.”
DLD College London is housed in highly contemporary, purpose-built premises in the heart of London, on 199 Westminster Bridge Road, overlooking the Palace of Westminster and the River Thames.
