Eco-Week at Priory School of Our Lady of Walsingham
Posted on 19th Oct 2023 in School NewsPriory School’s Eco-Week commences on Monday 13th November 2023. This year's theme will be ‘Save the Seas’, with a particular focus on the world’s coral reefs.
Lessons will explore the role that reef plays, threats to the reef, some of which are manmade, and possible solutions at a local, national and international level.
All teaching during the week, from Reception all the way up to Upper Sixth, will use the theme as the medium for delivery, for example, the impact of global warming on the coral reef in Science lessons. EcoCouncillors will also lead a whole school assembly during the week on this topic, as well as a charity Mufti Day for maritime conservation.
Every class has an Eco-Council Representative and they work very hard to encourage everyone in the Priory community (pupils, parents and staff) to use their interests, skills and enthusiasm to improve our environment, on the island and beyond. Examples of other Eco-Council themes include pollution (air, water, noise and visual), the cases of lion fish and shark finning, and forest fires, always focusing on what we can do to alleviate environmental concerns
