Ellesmere College to host Open Day after record intake

For the first time since March last year Ellesmere College is delighted to be welcoming families and potential students again for an Open Day, following the challenges of the last 18 months.

Following a record intake of students for the Autumn term, the Open Day will take place on Saturday 9th October from 1pm to 4pm, allowing visitors to see the school’s academic, sporting and boarding facilities in person and chat informally with staff.

Brendan Wignall, Ellesmere College Headmaster, said: “These are exciting times for the College and we can’t wait to welcome visitors back to the school for our Open Day.

“During lockdown we adapted to the ‘new normal’ and held effective ‘virtual’ Open Days, investing in online tours and virtual chats to staff, but we are pleased to be able to do this all face-to-face again.

“Our last face-to-face open day was just before the first lockdown in March 2020 and we are delighted to get back to some sort of normality.

“It’s lovely to be able to share our wonderful school and what we have to offer in this way once again. There is a full programme for visitors to enjoy and to experience the College, get to know us and understand our values.”

Mr Wignall said Ellesmere College had adapted well during lockdown and there were high levels of interest from parents of prospective students following another successful year for the school.

"The seamless transition from classroom to online learning reassured many students and parents regarding the continuity of education despite the environment. Many parents who made the decision to move school during the middle of last academic year or before reaching the usual milestone or normal end of year are now seeing the benefits of enrolling their children with us earlier, including better continuity and the advantages that come with a settled learning environment."

Mr Wignall added: “The College continues to have impressive successful academic and sporting results - even through Covid, and our one-to-one tours have gone extremely well with a high conversion rate and growth in numbers for our day offering.”
