Excellence in action; Maple Walk Prep School judged ‘excellent’ in all areas following ISI Inspection

Maple Walk Prep School, North West London’s co-educational independent prep school has received the highest accolade of ‘Excellent’ in the prestigious Educational Quality Inspection Report’s for pupils’ academic and other achievements and personal development.
Sarah Gillam, Head at Maple Walk Prep School, commented; "The Inspectors’ findings and conclusions are a glowing endorsement of Maple Walk and are a testament to the hard work of pupils, staff and the wider community, ensuring that excellence runs through every area of the school. Each child develops in a nurturing, fun and happy environment achieving his/her own best academically in the classroom and beyond through sports, music, art, drama. Equal importance is placed on developing social and self awareness, confidence and moral understanding; more difficult to measure but so fundamental to children’s development."
With fees kept to the lowest sustainable cost, the Report proves that excellence can also be excellent value, a founding commitment of the School when established in 2004.
Referring to the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements the key findings include:
- Pupils demonstrate maturity and a wealth of knowledge across the curriculum.
- The achievement of pupils with SEND is excellent because they are identified quickly and receive high quality support.
Key findings recognising that the quality of the pupils’ personal development as excellent include:
- Pupils’ behaviour in lessons and in social situations is excellent and shows their complete engagement with the Maple Walk code of conduct.
- Pupils display high levels of self-esteem, self-confidence and resilience.
- Pupils are socially aware and so are able to work extremely effectively with others. They collaborate freely across the age groups showing good negotiation skills.
The Inspectorate also highlighted the “high level of success in extra curricular activities and for both groups and individuals in sport.”
Sarah Gillam explains "Sport is a priority and we are lucky to have the Grade 2 listed Roundwood Park around the corner to use as our sport fields which extends our provision on site. This space for sport, together with an excellent sports department, has given us notable success in cross country, football, netball and taekwondo."
The School was commended for its ‘excellent achievement in music, drama and dance’ and impressed with pupils’ artwork stating it as ‘a very high standard’. The excellence in all extra curricular and sports, was ‘confirmed by many successes in external competitions.’
Within the Report, the ISI Focused Compliance Inspection has affirmed that the School is fully compliant in all respects with the highly rigorous regulations and standards.
