Family from Highfield and Brookham Schools spend Easter break making PPE visors
Posted on 22nd Apr 2020 in School News, Charity and community workChildren always look up to their parents and want to get involved with what they are doing. So, when Jamie Dew, Head of DT at Highfield and Brookham Schools, said he was going to spend his Easter holidays making PPE visors his children couldn’t wait to help. Ava age 5 and Daxx age 2, who are both pupils at Highfield and Brookham Schools, enjoyed spending time in the DT suite helping their daddy make something that was going to help the amazing doctors and nurses.
The family have an aim of making at least 100 visors but will keep going to make as many that time and resources permit. The first batch were delivered to the Royal Surrey County Hospital last week and were gratefully received by the staff.
As well as making PPE, Andy Baker, Head of Science at Highfield and Brookham Schools has also donated unused safety glasses and gloves to their local doctors, Liphook and Liss Surgery.
Sophie Baber, Headteacher at Brookham School says, “It makes me tremendously proud to see our staff and pupils giving their time selflessly to help those on the frontline of Covid-19. We will all be forever indebted to the amazing work the NHS are doing and it is extremely honourable that the Highfield and Brookham community are doing their bit. I hope it inspires many to do the same.”
