Brentwood School fencer crowned regional champion
Posted on 2nd Feb 2018 in School News, Sport, CompetitionBrentwood School fencer Jacob Leslie has been crowned the Under 12 Boys’ Epee champion at the Eastern Region Youth Championships held in Stevenage.
During the two-day contest, which acts as a qualifier for the British Youth Championships in May, First Year Jacob also secured bronze in the Under 12 Boys’ Foil, competing in a tough field of 26 young athletes.
It was a good weekend all round for Brentwood School with some fantastic medal-winning performances in the various disciplines. In total, 23 fencers qualified to further represent the school and their region at the British Youth Championship Finals in Sheffield.
Further bronze medals were won by Maddy Gale and Tom Woolterton in their age group on Foil. Matthew Goodwin, Alice Moorhouse, Benjamin Nagelkerke, Faith Child and Kavinan Pathmanathan all took bronze medals in their age bracket with Epee.
And on Sabre, bronze medals were won by Haliyah Alagbada, Folayemi Akinyosoye, Tanisha Rajan and Valentin Ivanov. Excellent silver Sabre medals were won by Lily Jeffery, Ian Ho, Jaidaksh Anilkumar and Rosa Xu.
