Former Brentwood School teacher publishes second novel

Brentwood School’s former Head of English Dr Simon Evans, now writing as Evan Symmonds, has just published his second novel.

Mansfield Park & Ride is a laugh-out-loud comedy about an English stately home and its frustrated efforts to mount a Jane Austen exhibition.

Evan’s first novel was the chilling ghost story Though the Frost Was Cruel, and the author is currently working on a crime novel.

Dr Evans retired from Brentwood School in 2019 after 31 years and moved to Monmouth on the border between Wales and England. He now divides his time between writing, walking and gardening in his woodland home.
