​Gloves and goggles from Gordon’s

Thousands of disposable gloves, protective googles and food distribution equipment have been donated this week by Gordon’s School, in a bid to help those dealing with the current pandemic.

Many of the school’s teaching and support staff have volunteered to help in nationwide and local efforts and two of the nurses in the school’s Medical Centre have offered their services to nearby hospitals. Those leading the Gordonians – an organisation for past students and staff – have been engaged in reaching out to them with cheery phone calls.

The majority of the school’s Residential and Day Boarders left last week. However, since then departmental staff at the school in West End, Surrey have been delving into their equipment to offer practical help to the nationwide effort. Goggles and protective gloves were donated to the NHS following their appeal and West End and Bisley Community Support group, delivering to those in isolation in the area, received protective gloves. Disposable cups and food containers are being sent to the homeless in Woking.

The items are used by students studying Science; Food Technology and Design Technology as well as the kitchen staff.

Headmaster Andrew Moss said: “We are proud to be helping with equipment both at a local and national level and that so many of our staff have volunteered. We shall continue to support wherever we can over the coming months.”
