Guinness World Record breaking Trinity mum runs two marathons on two continents for Hope4Malawi
Posted on 25th Apr 2018 in School News, FundraisingMarta Kiermacz-Abramek, from West Wickham, has run two marathons on two continents in six days, raising money for Hope4Malawi.
Mother to Krystian, a student at Trinity School, Croydon, Marta ran the Boston Marathon on 16 April, followed by the London Marathon on 22 April, where she also achieved a Guinness World Record for the fastest female wearing a suit.
Marta was inspired to run the marathons for Hope4Malawi after finding out about them through Trinity School, who have supported the charity over a number of years through fundraising and volunteering. Marta ran both marathons wearing her son’s Trinity tie for good luck.
The charity aims to give children in Malawi a better education so that they have a sustainable way to escape the poverty trap and develop skills and opportunities to enable them to have improved standards of living.
On completing the races, Marta said, ‘Running the marathons was a dream come true. It took me months of consistent training to qualify for the races alongside family and work commitments. I was proud to wear the Trinity tie and honoured to run for Hope4Malawi.’
