Halliford School is thrilled to be celebrating with their Year 11 students the best GCSE results in the long history of the school. With 56% of grades being at the very top band of 7-9, this is a remarkable achievement for all members of their school community. To achieve this in a climate where results have fallen nationally and to far surpass the National Average of 67% 4 – 9 grades with their impressive result of 99% is testament to the remarkable community that is Halliford School. However, Halliford is about so much more than grades and statistics. It is a school where each individual success is celebrated. A number of their students achieved a clean sweep of the much-coveted Grades 8 and 9. The Art Department secured a clean sweep of Grades 8 and 9 which is testament to their commitment to the Arts subjects in a school which offers a wide and varied curriculum.

Headmaster, Mr James Davies, said: “I am absolutely delighted with our record results in a year where nationally the picture has not been as positive. We have a long-standing philosophy of celebrating individual success as we enable each Hallifordian to come as they are and go as all they can be. This is a year group I know incredibly well, and it has been a privilege this morning to spend time with them and their parents and my colleagues on the staff as we have all shared in these stunning results. It has been amazing to see students overcome with emotion as they have opened their results. Knowing that virtually all of the year group will be returning to study in our Sixth Form is testament to the strength of the relationships we are honoured to enjoy with our students here. This is a year group that has been through a great deal of disruption to their senior school journey and has had to show incredible levels of resilience. Seeing them achieve these grades today makes me immensely proud of all of them.”

Mr Davies continues: “GCSEs are an important step in our students’ academic journey. However, we are not just about producing young people who are good exam-takers. I am passionate that education is about so much more than good examination results and we strive hard to provide our students with the best possible all-round education, with skills and values that will set them apart in later life. We offer a huge number of co-curricular activities and leadership opportunities which enables our boys to reach their full potential. This, combined with our warm-hearted environment and high-quality pastoral care, encourages our young men to aspire to be the best they possibly can be. Today’s results prove what a magnificent group of students we have at Halliford School, and I am extremely proud of all their achievements and hope that together with their friends and family they can enjoy some incredibly well-deserved celebrations.”

Halliford is looking forward to welcoming back their students in just over a week, when they will be able to see some significant changes to the school. Over the summer the School has continued to invest heavily to provide their students with the best possible facilities. Their £3m new Dining Hall and Theatre refurbishment programme is moving on a pace and will offer some truly exceptional spaces to learn and socialise together. At a time when the sector is coming under renewed pressure from changes in taxation, it has been incredibly reassuring for the team at Halliford to hear parents talk about what excellent value for money they feel a Halliford education is and despite the challenges these changes pose, they are happy to continue to support their students to join this thriving school. Alongside this impressive group of young men, Halliford is delighted to welcome their largest number of girls into their well-established co-educational Sixth Form and to see these young people lead their school community over the next two years. It is an extremely exciting time for Halliford School. Their whole school open morning takes place on Saturday 5th October and booking is now open on their website – www.hallifordschool.co.uk
