Hat-Trick of rookie wins for Brentwood School Racer Ethan
Posted on 17th Oct 2019 in School News, Achievements, Competition, SportBrentwood School Sixth Former Ethan Brooks (16) has enjoyed outstanding success in the final two rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship. At Silverstone on 28th and 29th September, Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Ethan put in a stunning lap in qualifying to qualify 2nd on the grid, just 0.012 seconds behind pole position.
After leading race 1 an issue caused Ethan to retire from the race. After a lot of hard work from the team, Ethan was ready to go for a wet race 2 and as a result, he was able to come away with his first rookie podium in the series, a fantastic result after the heartbreak of Saturday.
Race 3 was looking promising but while fighting in a 5-car battle for the lead of the race, Ethan was pushed off at the end of the back straight and sustained race ending damage. Nevertheless, there were many positives to take from Silverstone.
Ethan then carried this momentum into Brands Hatch, where a drying track in qualifying made conditions very tricky, but Ethan rose to the challenge, again qualifying p2 and showing his true pace in the car.
After finishing an excellent 4th and top rookie in a slippery race 1, Ethan’s charge in race 2 really showed his true potential. With several safety cars, a soaking track and fading light, conditions were less than ideal, but Ethan charged through from 5th on the grid, pulling off some sensational moves, to pass 3 cars in one lap and challenge for the lead. Unfortunately, he could not quite get the move done and finished 3rd overall, his best result in the series, claiming his first overall podium and another rookie win.
Sunday brought grey skies and the prospect of more rain for the huge crowds excited for the ITV4 televised race. Ethan once again rose to the challenge and a red flag halted an epic 4-car battle, which saw Ethan lead the race. Ethan was once again standing on both the overall podium with a 3 rd place finish, and the rookie podium, completing a hat-trick of rookie wins to complete a sensational weekend consisting of 5 out of a possible 6 podium finishes.
Proud mum Mrs Michele Brooks appealed for sponsors to help Ethan fulfil his racing dreams. “Having shown the potential spotted in him last year when he won the highly coveted Ginetta Junior Scholarship, Ethan would love to compete in a second season and compete for the overall title. However, this is budget dependent and currently Ethan is well short of the budget required to compete in the championship.
“The championship is broadcast live to over 20 million people annually on ITV4 and watched by around 55,000 people trackside each weekend and so is a great opportunity to expose your business to a huge audience. If you or your company would be interested in helping Ethan out, Ethan has a range of packages that will support your requirements and help to grow your business. If you would be interested in investing in Ethan or assisting in any way or would like to discuss in more detail what we can offer, please contact me, Michele Brooks (mrsbrooks@talktalk.net).”
