Highfield and Brookham Schools raise £1,228.05 for Poppy Appeal

Highfield and Brookham Schools in Liphook were once again proud to support the Poppy Appeal in 2019, raising an impressive £1,228.05 towards the Liphook Royal British Legion’s overall total of £12,289.71 from donations towards both paper and enamel poppies.

The money raised will help to make a real difference to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependents in a variety of ways including through the provision of financial and employment support to help ease the burden of financial pressures and the transition into civilian life. The money will also go towards the provision of social and emotional support from expert recovery and rehabilitation, to much-needed breaks away, ensuring physical and mental wellbeing.

In November, children and staff from Highfield and Brookham Schools joined those around the country to remember all who have fallen. The names of the 69 Highfieldians who died in wars during the 20th Century were read out and Year 4 poignantly laid beautifully glazed ceramic poppies that they had made on the ground in memory and honour of these men, and the sacrifice they made.
