Ipswich Prep netballers dance to feature on Sky Sports!
Posted on 4th Apr 2023 in School News, SportA dance by young netball players and their coaches from Ipswich Prep School featured on last week's Sky Sports channel, in the run up to their netball coverage.
The routine, created by England players Sasha and Kadeen Corbin to encourage girls to dance, was posted on the school’s instagram feed where it was picked up by the Sky Sports team: "Sky Sports selected your dance routine as part of our live build up show with Sasha and Kadeen Corbin on Friday 31 March. It was a great example of how much the Netball Super league has inspired young people, encouraging them to get involved in all aspects of the sport."
Head of Girls’ Sport at Ipswich Prep, Emma Swallow, said that the netball players at the Prep are very enthusiastic about all elements of sport and were keen to take on the Dance Challenge.
Mrs Swallow said: “The squad was going to watch a Saracen Mavericks game which includes Sasha Corbin in the team, so during a lunchtime club we thought we’d take on the dance challenge. The girls loved doing it, and we’re so delighted that this was picked up by the netball team at Sky Sports.”
At Ipswich Prep, sport is an important part of the curriculum. All pupils from Year 3 to 6 play hockey and cricket as well as a weekly swimming lesson, with the boys adding rugby and the girls adding netball into Games lessons. This year the girls finished in 3rd place in the Regional Netball IAPS competition and all pupils represented the school in matches with local schools in the area.
Claire Jackson, Head of Ipswich Prep, said: “We want our sports programme at Ipswich Prep to be exciting, inclusive and, above all, fun. Everyone at Ipswich Prep is thrilled that the Year 5 and 6 netballers were spotted and featured on television.”
