Ipswich Prep School's outstanding nursery provides ‘home-from-home’ experience says Ofsted

The Lodge Day Nursery at Ipswich Prep School has been judged as “Outstanding” in all areas for its youngest children by Ofsted, with the inspector praising its ‘home-from-home’ experience.

In the report of their inspection on 28 September 2022, Ofsted said: “Children thrive at this exceptionally welcoming and nurturing 'home-from-home' provision.”

The inspector’s report also praises the way in which staff talk to children all the time, organise activities and support the development of children:

• “Children are motivated and exceptionally well engaged, as staff are highly skilful at encouraging children to learn through play.”
• “Children respond extremely positively to the consistently high expectations promoted by staff. They beam with delight as staff give them meaningful praise for their efforts and achievements.”

The Lodge management team, headed up by Hayley List, were noted in the report: “The management team has high expectations for the nursery and works tirelessly to ensure children have the very best experiences”, with staff being commended for the way in which they “work very well together as a friendly and supportive team” who “swiftly respond to children's individual care needs”.

Mrs Claire Jackson, Head of Ipswich Prep, who oversees The Lodge Day Nursery said: “I am delighted that the Ofsted inspector recognised the outstanding provision which we offer to our children from 3 months to two years. It is particularly pleasing to note that the inspector found children to thrive with us, saying: 'Children are extremely relaxed and happy. They have quality time with the staff, who support them to feel very safe and secure.' We know that leaving your young child in the care of others can be difficult for new parents, so we are pleased that people will know we offer outstanding care and development.”
