The event, held in the school’s halls and classrooms, was filled with energy as students from Ipswich School and surrounding local schools engaged with industry leaders and explored future career paths.
“We are incredibly proud of the success of this year’s Careers Convention,” said Julie Hayes, who led the event. “It’s always a joy to see the enthusiasm from both our current students and the wider community. The return of our Old Ipswichians to share their stories is a particularly special part.”
Throughout the evening, attendees had the chance to discover a wide range of career options through informative sessions and one-on-one interactions with representatives from leading organisations. The event also featured a series of dynamic seminars, with Old Ipswichians returning to share their post-school experiences. These alumni, representing a variety of industries, inspired the next generation with their success stories and advice.
Richard Cooper, Governor, commented: "I spent a considerable amount of time speaking with universities and employers, and without exception, they all regarded the evening as a great success, highlighting the strong engagement and interest from both pupils and parents. The Ipswich School alumni who spoke delivered excellent presentations and provided valuable advice to the current pupils. It was particularly interesting to see graduate apprenticeships emerging as a credible alternative to the traditional degree route."
The convention provided a valuable platform for students to ask questions, gain insights into various career pathways, and connect with industry professionals, creating a space for inspiration and opportunity. As the evening concluded, the excitement and energy in the air underscored Ipswich School’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for future success.
One University added: "Thank you for inviting us to Ipswich School for such a fantastic event. It was a pleasure speaking with so many friendly, engaged, and enthusiastic students, as well as their parents."
A special thank you to all exhibitors and speakers for their contributions. We look forward to welcoming you again next year!
