King’s Ely Junior pupils qualify for IAPS National Swimming Finals

Three King’s Ely pupils have made a splash by reaching the finals of a national swimming competition...
George Goodfellow, 13, Tabitha Lacey, 12, and Nia Baird, 12, all students at King’s Ely Junior, have qualified for the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) National Swimming Finals.
The talented trio were part of the 12-strong team who represented King’s Ely at the IAPS Regional Gala, which was held at The Leys in Cambridge in February.
All pupils’ swimming times were passed on to the IAPS administrators and the top 16 times in the whole of the country are then invited to take part in the National IAPS Finals.
Head of Physical Education at King’s Ely Junior, David Boothroyd, is delighted that George, Tabitha and Nia’s times were in the top 16.
He commented: “Approximately 300 schools nationwide took part in the various IAPS regional events, so it really is a huge achievement for George, Nia and Tabitha to have qualified.
"Everyone at King’s Ely is delighted for them and will be wishing them the best of luck for the finals, which are taking place in Crawley on May 6th.”
George will be swimming 50m breaststroke, Tabitha will be swimming 25m fly and Nia will be swimming 50m backstroke.
