King’s Ely Sixth Former helps to raise £4,000 for air ambulance charity
Posted on 17th Jul 2017 in School NewsA King’s Ely Sixth Form student used her 18th birthday party as the perfect excuse to not just celebrate but to also raise funds for a good cause.
Around 300 people, including well over 100 King’s Ely students, attended Emily James’ birthday bash at her home in Soham on July 1st.
Emily asked guests not to take presents but to give donations to the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) charity instead.
Two fantastic chart-topping bands, Toploader and Scouting For Girls, performed at Emily’s festival-themed party and, with their help, an impressive £4,000 was raised for the EAAA.
Emily, who hopes to study Business Management at either King’s College London or the University of St Andrew’s, said: “I had a fantastic evening. Thank you to everyone who very kindly donated. After speaking to a volunteer at EAAA, we found out that the money raised will save at least one life which truly is incredible.”
