Leehurst Swan athletes compete in ‘laser run’
Posted on 28th Mar 2019 in School News, Sport, Competition, WinnersLaser run was something a little different and great fun for Leehurst Swan athletes. They put in maximum effort and came away with gold, silver and two fourth places!
It was an inspiration to meet and talk with Montell Douglas, a former 100m British record holder who has her sights set on a bobsleigh medal at the Winter Olympics.
Athletes from Years 5 to 8 travelled to Dauntsey's to compete in the laser run, which was organised by Wiltshire and Swindon School Games. Laser run is a precursor to the pentathlon and involves hitting a target with a laser gun five times, a 300m run, another five targets with the laser gun and a final 300m run.
Leehurst Swan’s two Year 5/6 mixed teams stormed it to take Gold and Silver medals. The Year 7/8 girls' and Y7/8 boys' teams competed well and were both pushed into fourth place.
