Merchiston students impress at prestigious tennis tournament

The annual AEGON Senior Schools’ UK Competition was played last week at the Bolton Arena. Merchiston, Edinburgh, was placed fourth in the overall competition, which saw more than 1500 schools, from across the UK, taking part over the course of local, regional and national competitions.

In the final matches, the Merchiston team competed against Alcester Grammar School, Cannonslade School and Magdalen College and were eventually placed fourth.

Director of Sport, Rory McCann comments: “These boys have been fully committed to developing their tennis over the past 12 months. It is more impressive to note that three out of the four of these boys are not members of our Tennis Academy programme, and balance a number of other sporting commitments during term time.”
