Posted on 22nd Apr 2021 in School News, Art, University StudyMillfield artist Dalya Inan has received offers to study at some of the most prestigious art universities in the world.
Dalya, who is on an art scholarship at Millfield, has applied to study a multitude of art courses in America and the UK and has so far been offered a place at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Parsons School of Design, New York, Goldsmiths University of London and University of the Arts London (UAL).
Creative Dalya, whose current work focusses around the themes of conceptual art and surrealism, is hoping to use her first year at university experimenting with different mediums before finding her specialism. As an artist, her purpose is to make everyone feel connected with each other and put an emphasis on the fact that we’re all a part of an incredible unity.
Eighteen year old Dalya is a boarder and is studying A levels in Art, Spanish and Photography. She says, “I really hope in the future that I will be surrounded by passionate people like the people I have met at Millfield because that’s what makes me work hard every day and inspires not only my art, but who I am. I believe that artists have the power to channel a creative force into an artefact… This is what I love about art, it broadens our vision on life.”
It wasn’t until Dalya joined Millfield in Year 9 that she discovered a passion for art with the help of her enthusiastic art teachers. Director of Art Paul Maxwell has seen Dalya’s progress from Year 9 through to Upper Sixth.
He says, “Dalya is a very talented art scholar. She is incredibly creative, has superb technical skills and a terrific imagination. She has produced some impressive final pieces this year and her university offers from two of America’s most respected art colleges are just a reward for her hard work and motivation.”
Dalya hopes to accept her place with Parsons School of Design and experience studying and life in New York.
Millfield Art have had a number of artists go on to become successful creatives. British contemporary visual artist Marc Quinn (1978-1982) explores what it is like to be a person living in the world today through sculpture. British Fine Artist and Interior Design Max Hembrow (2008-2012) specialises in fine oil on canvas pieces and Emma Stevens (2009-2015) blurs the line between painting and sculpture.
