Millfield netballer selected for U17 Ireland Squad
Posted on 8th Mar 2022 in School News, SportMillfield Netballer Ella Honey has been selected into the U17 Ireland Squad for the 2022-23 season.
Lower Sixth student and goal shooter Ella took part in a set of vigorous trials over two separate weekends in Dublin to secure her place in the Irish squad.
Ella is one of an incredible six international selections for Millfield netball this season alone, and she will represent the Millfield first team in the Independent Schools National Finals and the National Schools Finals in March.
Sixteen-year-old Ella boards at Millfield and studies Biology, Psychology and French at A level. Ella started at Millfield in September and is part of the senior netball programme. She hopes to go to university to study global health and social policy whilst pursuing her netball.
Ella said: ”Being selected for the Ireland squad provides me with additional opportunities to improve my netball and the potential to represent my country. I chose to come to Millfield because of the focused and detailed netball programme, along with the excellent facilities and coaching on offer.”
Director of Netball, Jenna Adamson, said: “Ella has been a wonderful addition to Millfield and thoroughly deserves her selection into the U17 Ireland Squad. I’m really looking forward to seeing Ella’s progression with Ireland throughout the year.”
Millfield have a number of specialist Netball staff who are highly experienced coaches and players working and playing within International settings, the Vitality Netball Superleague, the England Performance Pathway and Premier League Clubs. Millfield annually has athletes representing Superleague franchises across all age groups within the National Performance League and at Superleague.
