Millfield Prep pupils receive top mark in the UK Bebras Challenge
Posted on 9th Dec 2021 in School NewsTwenty-Eight Millfield Prep pupils have gained top marks in a National computing competition.
Six pupils: Luke Bratton, Ben Bauer, Toby Wellspring, Tim De Pree, Harry Wilder and Joshua Seager, were awarded a gold certificate for being placed in the top 10% in the country for their age group.
Luke Bratton gained the highest score of all the Millfield Prep school pupils and received a ‘Best in School’ certificate.
Over 300,000 pupils nationwide took part in the UK Bebras Challenge this year, with 87,066 participating in the same section as our Year 7 pupils.
Bebras is an international initiative aiming to promote informatics and computational thinking among school pupils at all ages. The challenges are made up of a set of short problems called Bebras tasks and are delivered online.
Jonathan Ford, who is the Head of Computing and ICT at Millfield Prep, stated “some of the challenges this year were complex, and we are therefore very proud of all the pupils who participated and were awarded a distinction. The pupils all worked extremely hard and they can be tremendously proud of themselves.”
