Millfield Prep School Chaplain Michele Kitto ordained at Wells Cathedral
Posted on 15th Oct 2020 in School NewsMillfield Prep School’s Chaplain Michele Kitto has been ordained at Wells Cathedral by Bishop Ruth to become a Deacon.
Michele will serve as a Deacon for both Millfield Prep School and the parish of Glastonbury where she will be taking on services on Sundays and supporting the parish throughout the school holidays. Headmistress Shirley Shayler was amongst the few guests at the intimate service held at the prestigious Wells Cathedral. Covid-19 restrictions meant limited numbers were allowed to witness the ordination.
Newly titled Reverend Kitto adorned images of Glastonbury Tor and Millfield’s Mill on her handmade Ordination Stole for the service, she said; “It was a very intimate and special service, especially in these times devoid of touch”.
Reverend Kitto joined us three years ago from Exeter Cathedral School where she was Deputy Head Pastoral overseeing pastoral and chaplaincy. She is currently training up her 18-month-old Labrador, Sir Nigel, to become Millfield Prep’s first ever chaplaincy wellbeing dog who will assist her pupil wellbeing and chapel duties.
Reverend Kitto leads the school throughout the year in Sunday Chapel Services for boarders, Carol Services held at Wells Cathedral and whole school services for Harvest, Remembrance Day, Easter and our pupil leavers’ service, alongside weekly assemblies in Pre-Prep, Prep and year group chapel services.
