Posted on 30th Mar 2020 in School News, Charity and community workStudents from Millfield School in Street, Somerset have sent virtual messages of support to residents in lockdown at a local care home in Keinton Mandeville.
Former Millfield Prep and current Millfield Year 9 students Eloise, Maddy, Winnie, Sophie, Charlotte, Lucy, Grace and Daisy sent personalised video messages to the residents at Beech Tree House Care Home, including to a former member of Millfield’s Grounds and Gardens and Catering staff, Pete.
The school is also helping to support the local community in Street by working with the Parish Council and the Salvation Army to deliver prescriptions and food parcels and by providing free school meals for local children. It is working with the Parish Council to become a delivery ‘hub’ that will co-ordinate deliveries for vulnerable people in the area.
Millfield Headmaster Gavin Horgan says, “I am so proud of our students and the entire Millfield community for doing all they can to help those affected by the current global crisis. Now more than ever, we need to support and stand together. Millfield will always be a supportive, strong member of the local Street community and I look forward to sharing more plans of how we are able to continue to help those in need.”
