Moulsford Prep School announces Pre-Prep to become co-educational from September 2023
Posted on 14th Dec 2022 in School NewsMoulsford Prep School in Oxfordshire has announced plans for its Pre-Prep to become co-educational from September 2023, welcoming girls to their state-of-the-art new building. The Prep School (Years 3 - 8) will continue to deliver an outstanding all-boys education.
The announcement is a natural development for the Pre-Prep which already accepted girls from age 3 in its Pre-School, and follows the successful September launch of the new building, which was designed with co-education in mind, so there are no structural changes required.
It also reflects the strong demand from local families in South Oxfordshire and West Berkshire for a Moulsford Pre-Prep education for both boys and girls.
Sabrina McMann, Head of the Pre-Prep, said: “Children of such a young age don’t tend to define their learning or play by gender. By combining boys and girls we are helping them to develop their confidence to talk in front of their peers regardless of gender. Laying the foundations of learning and playing together should help children to be tolerant and respectful of each other while building experience in the skills of collaboration, cooperation and compromise.”
Ben Beardmore-Gray, Headmaster at Moulsford Prep, commented: “We are fortunate that the Pre-Prep is in a position to make the transition to co-education swiftly and with relative ease. We believe that both girls and boys will learn so much from each other in these early years, in addition to receiving an education designed to give them an exciting window into the modern world, which is what I believe we do really well here at Moulsford. But the most important aspect of a Moulsford education is the pastoral care, and the nurture we provide for all children, with kindness, compassion and community at the centre of all that we do.”
Mr Beardmore-Gray, continues: “The School has been receiving many enquiries as to whether we will be taking girls into the Pre-Prep and we are extremely pleased that we can now broaden the Moulsford community by doing so from September 2023. Moulsford now looks forward to continuing to deliver an outstanding all-boys Prep and also a first-class co-educational Pre-Prep.”
Edward Boddington, Chair of Governors, added: “We are delighted that Pre-Prep girls and their parents will join our very strong community and benefit from the ethos and atmosphere that are so intrinsic to the Moulsford experience.”
