In an academic year of remarkable achievements, Ewell Castle School Tennis Academy has added yet another accolade to its growing list of successes. After winning the UK National Champions in the 13U age group, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) selected the Academy to represent England in the prestigious forthcoming International Schools' Gymnasiade World Championships (ISF), in the U15 age group in Zlatibor, Serbia, 4th – 14th April 2025. This incredible honour places Ewell Castle firmly on the global tennis map and highlights the School's dedication to nurturing young talent. The tennis team consists of; Neo Armus, Darney Hunnygen, Yushin Ishii, Nicholas Kizys, George Lobb, Samuel Mhizha, Daniel Pratt and Keiju Yuto.

This achievement is not just a testament to the hard work and talent of the players, but is a triumph for Ewell Castle School, its Tennis Academy and for Surrey County, where many of the players have honed their skills and represented the County in various competitions. As a proud Surrey school, Ewell Castle School Tennis Academy has always drawn strength from the support and encouragement of Surrey County’s tennis community. The opportunity to represent not just their school and country but also their home county on an international stage is a moment of immense pride for these young athletes.

The selection itself was a monumental achievement and the journey ahead was equally challenging. Preparing for a world championship requires rigorous training and an unwavering commitment to excellence. The players trained in all weather conditions, demonstrating the determination and resilience that have brought them this far. Their preparation has been driven by Director of Tennis and Head Coach Tom Burn, along with coaches Ross Sheppard and James Beaven.

Beyond physical preparation, there has also been the financial challenge of funding this incredible trip. Ewell Castle undertook an ambitious fundraising campaign that involved events and community initiatives led by the tennis team and involved the entire School community, to ensure that the players had the resources they needed to travel, compete, and represent their school, county, and country. We are very grateful to the LTA and Surrey Tennis for the support and guidance they continue to provide our players, as well as the team sponsors who have helped us on our way.

When the players step onto the court at the World Championships, they will carry not only the hopes of Ewell Castle School but also Surrey and England. They aim to represent the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance that have been instilled in them throughout their journey. We wish them well.
