New Head announced at Moreton Hall Prep
Posted on 23rd Sep 2020 in School News, AppointmentsMoreton Hall Prep, in Shropshire, is delighted to announce that John Bond has been appointed as the new Head of the prestigious Prep school near Oswestry. John takes up his post in April 2021 during the school’s 20th anniversary year.
John, who grew up in Cornwall and has taught in both the state and private sector, is currently Deputy Head Academic at Hatherop Castle Prep School. Through a teaching career spanning 20 years, John has gained a range of academic and pastoral experience in roles such as Head of Boarding and Director of Studies. John has also taught at Hereford Cathedral Junior School and King Edward’s Junior School in Bath and so brings an excellent knowledge of an ‘all through’ school like Moreton Hall. In recent years, John qualified as an ISI Team and Boarding Inspector and has also completed an MEd in Educational Leadership.
Moreton Hall’s Principal, George Budd, commented, “John showed a real warmth and care for young people throughout the interview process and immediately felt at home with our pupils and staff. Everyone who met John felt he was the ideal fit for our Prep.”
John is an avid sports fan, particularly rugby and cricket and he tries to watch Bath Rugby as much as possible. It’s also been known to find John on the golf course and he is looking forward to plenty of opportunity for more practice now the Moreton Hall golf course is back in action.
Away from sport, John enjoys reading and going to the theatre. John and his wife are also looking forward to spending some time enjoying the wonderful countryside around Moreton Hall with their Labrador, Hobbes.
Now fully under the Moreton Hall umbrella in its 20thanniversary year, John arrives at an exciting time for Moreton Hall Prep. Pupils embrace the school’s timeless values of scholarship, gaiety and humanity and are provided with opportunities to forge their own path, follow their individual dreams and accomplish what they never thought possible.

My wife and I are very much looking forward to joining the Moreton community and to meeting pupils, parents and staff over the coming months.
