Northbourne Park School hosts primary schools 6-a-side football tournament
Posted on 1st Nov 2017 in School News, SportTuesday, October 17 marked the annual Primary Schools U11 6-a-side football tournament at Northbourne Park School, which is always a big event in the local schools’ calendar.
There were 12 local schools participating in this event, namely: Deal Parochial, Sandwich Junior School, Northbourne Park School, Northbourne Primary School, Wingham Primary School, Kingsdown and Ringwould Primary, Hornbeam Primary School, Sandown Primary, The Downs, Green Park Community and River Primary School who had two teams.
Each school played first round matches against the other teams in their pool. The top two teams from each pool then contested for the Cup and the 3rd and 4th placed teams went through to the Shield competition. The whole tournament was played across four 6 a side fields, with everyone then converging around the two main pitches for the Cup and Shield Finals.
The football was exciting and fast paced and the tournament provided a superb afternoon of competition and fun.
Sandwich Junior won the Cup and Hornbeam Primary won the Shield. Congratulations to both schools and well done to all competitors.
Craig Riley, Director of Sport at Northbourne Park said: “This year’s tournament displayed some fine football and teamwork. Many thanks must go to everyone that was involved in such a successful football tournament; the organisers, the players, the coaches and all the children and staff of Northbourne Park School."
