Pocklington Prep School run raises over £4000 for Candlelighters Charity
Posted on 26th Nov 2020 in School News, Charity and community work, FundraisingPupils at Pocklington Prep School put their best foot forward last week in a charity run to fundraise for the local charity Candlelighters.
Within their year group ‘bubbles’, every child from Pre-school to Year 6 completed one full lap of the school grounds, a distance of 1.2 miles, on Wednesday 18th November. Pupils sported a pink theme and huge smiles as they completed their laps, brightening up the cold and windy November morning!
So far the children have raised a magnificent £4,188.52 for Candlelighters, a charity which supports families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire.
Bonnie Steel, Run Organiser, Charity Coordinator and teacher at Pocklington Prep School said: “The families have completely got behind this charity which I think is because it is local to us, and so poignant as nobody would want to be in the situation that the Candlelighter’s community is faced with."
She continued: “Suzy Ward (Head of Prep School) has been so supportive of this event, as have the staff who went out with their bubbles despite many of them not being fans of running! The community spirit we have here is amazing and I could not be any prouder of the children than I am right now.”
