Priory School of Our Lady of Walsingham student celebrates Oxford offer
Posted on 19th Jan 2023 in School News, University StudyPriory School student, Lydia Green, who in August 2022 celebrated getting A*s in English Literature, Russian and the Extended Project Qualification, plus an A in French, has now accepted an offer to read Classics at Jesus College, Oxford.
The course begins on 1 October 2023 and lasts four years. A delighted Lydia said: "I am relieved that the wait is over! I am incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me, not only during the application process itself, but throughout my time at Priory School."
No stranger to success, Lydia’s GCSEs included Spanish, French and German. She is considering a career as a diplomat and spent summer 2022 as an intern at the Human Rights Commission in London, an experience she described as ‘an invaluable opportunity’.
School Principal, David EJJ Lloyd, remarked: "Lydia’s place at Oxford University is testament to her ambition and strong work ethic, and I was delighted when she attributed her success to the academic and pastoral support from all the staff here at Priory School."
Emma Soar, Head of Senior School and Sixth Form, said: "We are delighted that Lydia’s hard work has culminated in a place at Oxford. We are convinced that she will love every minute of it and have little doubt she will use her linguistic talents in an exciting future career."
