Record results for St Anthony's School for Boys
Posted on 21st Mar 2023 in School NewsFor the second year running, pupils attending St Anthony's School for Boys, have, under the direction of an incredible team of staff members and a dedicated head teacher, achieved excellent, record breaking results at the 11+ and 13+ exams.
Headmaster, Mr Richard Berlie, commented: "There were 31 boys in Year 6 compared to 42 last year. Offers made by the most competitive north London day schools increased yet again with proportionately higher offers from UCS, Habs and MTS. Habs almost doubled their offers, including the award of four scholarships compared to one last year. Just shy of 50% of the year group was offered a place at MTS (three at 11+ and twelve at 13+). Offers from Westminster and St Paul’s also held up well with two confirmed places from St Paul’s with a further two on their reserve list.
"Two St Anthony’s boys applied for Latymer Upper, where 1,100 applicants compete for just over 100 places, and both boys were offered places. It is pleasing to see connections re-ignited with schools such as Forest, Downside and The Oratory.
"These outcomes underscore the importance of providing high quality teaching and co-curricular activities, with the aim of untapping the academic potential of pupils and securing the school that is right for each individual."
Having just joined the school in 2020, Mr Berlie has set St Anthonys School for Boys on a trajectory that has resulted in the school out performing itself and achieving record results year on year. Parents and children are supported through the process by a very able team of hand picked staff members. Furthermore, with its unshaken commitment to pastoral care, particularly to the well being and mental health of students and families, the school has expanded its teaching methods both in and outside the class room, offering a comprehensive co- curricular program covering a range of incredibly interesting and current clubs and activities, incorporating esteemed guest speakers on a range of topics like history and economics, hiring experienced family counsellors who deliver webinars on practical topics and engaging in house counsellors who are on hand in case a child needs additional support. The school has a happy enthusiastic and buzzing environment and is currently expanding its early years offering with a new co-educational nursery in September this year as well.
