Posted on 23rd Jan 2018 in School News, SportLlandovery College’s rich tradition of producing top class rugby players continues apace. No less than six past pupils have been selected to play for Wales in the upcoming 2018 Nat West Six Nations Rugby Championship.
George North and Alun Wyn Jones have again been selected to play for their country with the latter captaining the team. Past pupil Carys Phillips will captain the Welsh Women’s Rugby Team and will lead the side in their first match against Scotland at Colwyn Bay’s Stadiwm Zip World on Friday 9 February.
Not to be outdone, the Wales U20s squad includes last year’s leavers Corey Baldwin, Tomi Lewis and Aron Hemmings – the three amigos!
A double achievement for Tomi Lewis in that he, along with two other past pupils Cai Devine and Luke Morgan are part of the Wales 7s Squad currently playing in the HSBC Sevens World Series that kicked off in Dubai and Capetown at the close of last year.
Iestyn Thomas, Head of Rugby at Llandovery College said: “We are extremely proud of our boys and girls and the College’s ability to produce a steady flow of world class players, based on dedication, hard work and high expectation.”
