Springtime Celebration raises over £3,400 for Burgess Hill Foodbank
Posted on 1st Apr 2021 in School News, Charity and community work, FundraisingOn Thursday 25th March, Burgess Hill Girls put-on a special Springtime Celebration event, raising over £3,400 for the Burgess Hill Foodbank.
It has now been over a year since coronavirus restrictions were put in place and the pupils and staff at Burgess Hill Girls have desperately missed many of the school events that bring their community together throughout the year. So, on the last day of the Spring Term, before everyone broke up for the Easter holidays, Burgess Hill Girls decided to organise a special celebration, a Springtime Charity Event. Throughout the day they ran activities across the whole school, from Nursery to Sixth Form, with a shared goal of raising funds for the Burgess Hill Foodbank.
In the Senior School and Sixth Form, with all pupils sticking to their year group bubbles, activities included football, Zumba and taking on the assault course.
Children in the Pre-Prep and Prep School enjoyed Easter themed arts and crafts and adventure trails around the school in Spring and Easter fancy dress.
In the Nursery, there was a special visit from the Springtime bunny and his chicken friend who joined in the fun with the parachute game.
The day ended with the School’s annual House Quiz, hosted by Sixth Form House Captains, and streamed live to the wider community.
The event has so far raised over £3,400 for the Burgess Hill Foodbank. You can still donate here: https://www.goldengiving.com/fundraising/bhgspringcharityevent
School Head Liz Laybourn was delighted to end the term on such a high: “Burgess Hill Girls is always at our best when we come together to do our bit for the community. It has been a challenging year for us all so the Springtime Celebration was a fantastic way to mark the end of term and look forward to all the joys that summer will hopefully bring.”
