Students at St Columba’s College in St Albans are delighted to be able to return to school this term. The Prep School were greeted with smiling staff, banners and decorations on Monday 8 March to celebrate their return.

The Covid testing programme for the Senior School has run incredibly smoothly, and students had a staggered return over three days. Many thanks to all the parent volunteers, staff and nursing team who have worked so hard at making sure it ran well. Following government guidelines, after their three tests in school, Senior Schools students and staff continue with their home tests.

During their first week back, pupils in the Prep School enjoyed celebrating Science Week with a range of activities. They dressed up as their favourite scientist, had exciting workshops from the Science Boffin and Captain Calamity, and took part in a science trail around school.

Head of Prep, Mr Richard McCann, said: “It is wonderful to see all the pupils and staff back in school this week. Everyone has settled back into their routines so seamlessly and enjoyed not having to look at a screen all day long! It has been a great week back as we have had Science week and all the pupils have enjoyed getting involved with experiments and dressing up as their favourite scientist.”

Before the Easter holidays, the Senior School also have the annual Eisteddfod music competition to look forward to, which will be happening virtually.
