Taunton School raises money for life-changing educational opportunities with annual Charity Ball
Posted on 20th Dec 2024 in School News, Bursaries, Charity and community work, FundraisingTaunton School has raised more than £18,000 for its bursaries and assisted places programme at its annual Charity Ball.
Taunton School offers a range of exceptional bursaries and assisted places to help give children life-changing educational opportunities. Its Charity Ball is organised each year by the School’s Foundation team, which also manages the School’s vast network of alumni, and sees businesses, parents, local people, past students, and employees come together to generously raise money to help fund these places.
Over the years, the school has supported a large number of students with its assisted places and bursaries scheme.
Director of Foundation & Alumni Relations, Jack Clark, said: “It was wonderful to see our whole community come together to raise money for means-tested assisted places at Taunton School. This was the fourth year we have run the event and I’m pleased to report, our most successful yet!”
This year’s Charity Ball featured a three-course meal prepared by the school’s in-house catering team, live music from local band, All Jazzed Up and an auction which included more than 35 lots. The highest winning bid was £1,250 for four tickets to England vs France at the upcoming Six Nations.
Two past Taunton School students, known as Old Tauntonians, were invited to speak at the event about their experience of being awarded an assisted place at the school.
Marnie, one of two speakers, said: “School for us was more than just an education, it was a place where we felt secure, looked after and happy. My education at Taunton School helped me in ways you cannot imagine and I’m so grateful to the school for allowing me this opportunity.”
Taunton School’s alumni network includes more than 10,000 past students across more than 120 countries. The school remains connected with the students through regular communications and a wide range of events organised each year by our Foundation and Alumni Office, offering life-long support to all students.
Next year’s Charity Ball will take place on Saturday 1st November 2025 with ticket information coming soon.
